Students move through levels based on mastered skills and maturity… not arbitrarily by age. Traditional K-12 is instead divided into the following levels:
Each student has goals to master. Basic academic skills, personal leadership, and interpersonal skills, then personal goals the more mature students set for themselves. There are no grades/labels given to students. Students are recognized for becoming proficient and supported with skills not yet mastered.
As an Arizona private school, we are not required to participate in ANY standardized testing. A blend of observations and diagnostics are used to gauge student development and skill reports are provided to parents. Parents in turn are supported in observing and working with their children, then communicating progress and needs with their children’s teachers.
